Beachfront Dining- Phuket

I visited Phuket over a weekend a couple months ago, it was my first time to Phuket despite being a frequent Thailand visitor. One of the highlights of the trip was having dinner on the beach. Prior to the trip we thought it'd be nice to have our feet dipped in sand whilst enjoying dinner and watching the sunset. After doing some research we picked Nakalay Beachfront Dining by Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa.

We made a booking a week in advance however I suggest that if you're interested you should make a booking as early as possible because seats are limited and they don't do many seatings per night. We firstly called Nakalay to make a booking and after letting them know that we were interested to dine with them they sent us an email with the menu and also asking us to confirm a few details such as: number of people, nationality and choice of menu.
The menu options we were given in the email were:
Available Options:
1. Turf Side: Meat and Poultry Set, including the private beach cabana (THB 5,200 ++ per couple)
2. Surf Side: Seafood BBQ set, including private beach cabana (THB 5,800 ++ per couple)
3. Surf and Turf: Meat, Poultry, and Seafood BBQ set, including private beach cabana (THB 6,500 ++ per couple)
4. A La Carte Menu: Order on an a la carte basis from our menu, for this option (THB 4,000 per couple) will be charged separately for the private candle-lit cabana.
We chose the Surf Side since we were more seafood fans than meat fans. Once your details were confirmed they will send you a PayPal payment link for you to pay.
We made our booking early in the evening leaving us plenty of time to explore Patong's nightlife.
When we first arrived we were escorted by one of their staff members to the private beach. The beach area had approximately 5-7 tables for dining. Each table was beautifully decorated with fake candles on the table, real candles on the sand and flowers here and there. When I first stepped foot onto the sand and saw the lovely decorated beach cabana I thought I had entered another world, everything felt so relaxing and peaceful.

We were offered drinks and bread when we first got seated. Not long after our seafood salad was also served.

The seafood salad had average size muscles with prawns and lettuce. We speculate that part of the ingredients they used for the salad was grown by the hotel themselves in the vegetable garden that we walked past on the way to the cabana.

The main course was a huge seafood platter! The platter included a lobster tail, a whole crab, fish and prawn skewers. The platter was served with a few different types of sauces, you can ask your waiter to explain what each sauce is made from. We had trouble finishing the seafood platter because the servings were quite big. After the seafood platter we were served a plate of fruits each!
Overall I thought the whole idea and experience of dining on the beach and watching the sunset was superb however the food overall wasn't anything wow-ing. Lastly, a friendly reminder to everyone that is going or planning to go to have this experience, bring insect repellent that actually works (both my legs were covered in new mosquito bites after dinner)!
